COUNTY OF HAWAII •� ''" ' � •" STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> ,tF OF NPam. <br /> • • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 515 24 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO A MULTI- <br /> YEAR AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I AT MANOA <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research & Development wishes to enter into a <br /> multi-year agreement for five (5) years with the University of Hawaii at Manoa; and <br /> WHEREAS, the purpose of this agreement is to share the cost of funding two <br /> Extension Agent positions in Hawaii County; and <br /> WHEREAS, these Extension Agents will cover Indigenous Crops/East Hawaii <br /> Master Gardeners and East Hawaii Livestock; and <br /> WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract, lease <br /> or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal <br /> year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and <br /> WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County <br /> departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal <br /> or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers <br /> granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in <br /> connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I: <br /> 1.
