RE: Ordinance Amending Chapter 15 of the Hawaii County Code 1982 (1995 Edition)
Relating to Parks and Recreation- Bi11214, Draft 4
Enclosed is the requested revision of Bi11214 concerning the amendments to Chapter 15 of the
Hawaii County Code.
Section 15-39 Camping and trailer areas.
• Isaac Hale Memorial [Beach] Park -remove the word Beach.
The bill proposes to change the name back to Isaac Hale Memorial Park that was originally
named in resolution no. 339 on September 5, 1951. The late Isaac Hale of Puna was mortally
wounded in active combat in Korea.

CHADIUTNC. THE NADH OF POHOIKI PARK IN PUP1A TO ISAAC HALE
N1EN:ORIAL PARK.
WHEREAS, the late Isaac Hale of Puna, Hawaii, gave
hia best and all to the service of the United States of
America; and
L9HEREAS, while in active combat in Korea he was mortally
wounded; and
~+IFiEREAS, he was born and raised in Puna, and his family
has lived in and contributed much to the District of Puna;
and
~h'HEREAS, it is proper and fitting that we, at this time,
pay permanent respect and honor to Isaac Hale,
I10VJ, THEREFORE, BE IT RESULV~D by the Board of
Supervisors in and for the County of Hawaii that the name
of Pohoiki Park in the District of Puna be changed to The
Isaac Hale Memorial Park as a tribute to our honored and
native son, Isaac Hale.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the County
of F{awaii be and he is hereby directed and autho rized to
send a copy of this resolution to the family of the late
Isaac Hale. ~
