RESOLUTION NO. 521 24
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAWAPI KEIKI
RODEO ASSOCIATION INC. FOR EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS KEIKI RODEO
EVENTS.
WHEREAS, Hawaii Keiki Rodeo Association Inc. (HKRA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that promotes the sport of rodeo in our community while inspiring youth and
teaching sportsmanship, life skills, teamwork, responsibility, and exemplary citizenship; and
WHEREAS, HKRA supports the paniolo culture and history of Hawaii Island by
hosting four youth rodeo events throughout the year at the Pana`ewa Equestrian Center's Alvin
"Al" Cabral Rodeo Arena Grandstand; and
WHEREAS, the keiki rodeo events are drug- and alcohol -free, family -friendly events
that attract residents from around the island; and
WHEREAS, HKRA is requesting funds to purchase a portable generator, shelving for
the storage container at the arena, a timing scoreboard with case, and printer and toner for
posting contestant information, event lineups, scores, and other necessary information during the
keiki rodeo events; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports public programs that promote
drug- and alcohol -free events that enrich the lives of community members; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity,
service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that
Contingency Relief fiends from Council District 3 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Hawaii Keiki Rodeo Association Inc. for expenses related
to its keiki rodeo events.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
