A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO D.A.R.E. HAWAI‘I
TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO ITS 2024 D.A.R.E. DAY CELEBRATION EVENT IN WEST HAWAI‘I.
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that teaches our youth to make safe and responsible decisions, to resist alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and violence, to avoid
risky situations, and to lead a safe and healthy life; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is conducting a West Hawai‘i D.A.R.E. Day to celebrate the graduation of West Hawai‘i students who complete the 10-week Drug Abuse Resistance Educational (D.A.R.E.)
curriculum, scheduled for May 10, 2024 at Kekuaokalani Gym and the Kona Aquatic Center; and
WHEREAS, D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i is requesting funds for rock climbing equipment and slide rental fees, D.A.R.E. materials for graduating students, and refreshments for the students and their
families in attendance; and
WHEREAS, one of the goals of the Department of Liquor Control is to support youth programs that promote public safety, education, and responsible lifestyle choices in alcohol- and drug-free
environments; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to D.A.R.E. Hawai‘i for the aforementioned expenses related to its 2024 D.A.R.E. Day Celebration event in West Hawai‘i.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
