No. 841/Bill No. 156 <br /> PLACE: Council Chambers <br /> Kailua-Kona, Hawai`i <br /> TIME: 1:00 p.m. <br /> Council Chair and Members <br /> Hawai`i County Council <br /> Hilo, Hawai`i 96720 <br /> Your Committee on Finance,to which was referred Bill No. 156, reports as follows: <br /> Bill No. 156,transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa, via Communication No. 841 dated <br /> April 12, 2024, amends Ordinance No. 23-50, as amended, the Operating Budget for the County of <br /> Hawai`i for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024. <br /> This bill appropriates revenues in the Interest—Other Federal account($620,000) and the Interest— <br /> Housing account($2,000); and appropriates the same to the Emergency Rental Assistance <br /> Administration COVID-19 account($10,000); Cities of Financial Empowerment account($2,000); <br /> Emergency Rental Assistance 2 Administration COVID-19 account($500,000); Hawai`i Island <br /> Landlord/Tenant Mediation Program account($10,000); and the 2021 Hawai`i Island Homeowner <br /> Assistance Program-Administration account($100,000). <br /> Committee Member Holeka Goro Inaba requested some background on this measure. Finance Deputy <br /> Director Aaron Brown was present but felt the Office of Housing would be able to provide background. <br /> Housing and Community Development Specialist Sharon Hirota appeared via Zoom. Mr. Inaba asked <br /> Ms. Hirota about these funds and how often these accounts earn interest. Ms. Hirota stated that these <br /> accounts earn interest monthly.
