I am writing this email in support of Communication 756.2 which will amend the County Budget to add
$2.5M to a South Hawaii Animal Control Facility.
I retired to Ocean View Ranchos in March of 2023. I have always loved to get out and walk and felt like I
had a perfect place to do that until I realized how many loose dogs wandered the roads in Ocean
View. Most of the dogs that run freely are not the sweetest and honestly dare you to walk near them. I
feel like the dogs that are running in packs surely deserve a better life than they are leading. It is
outrageous that a man lost his life by a pack of dogs attacking him last year. The most outrageous thing
is that nothing has been done to alleviate the problem of dogs running loose all over Ocean View and
attacking people. I have decided my life is more important than taking a daily walk in my neighborhood
so I now drive up to Kahuku/Volcano National Park. I am just afraid that another death will occur and I
will read about it on social media once again. If there was ever a neighborhood that needed an animal
control facility, it would be right here in Ocean View. I am a dog lover, have one of my own, and am
hopeful that the county will see the need for one here.
Please save a life by supporting a South Hawaii Animal Control Facility. I will volunteer in anypacity if
one is approved. tr-)
