RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI‘I, HAWAI‘I COMMUNITY COLLEGE
WHEREAS, the Hawai‘i Fire Department wishes to enter into an agreement with the University of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Community College (HCC); and
WHEREAS, this agreement facilitates the process of awarding college credit towards the Hawai‘i Community College Fire Science Program to individuals who receive college level learning
during training in the County of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Fire Department; and
WHEREAS, this agreement includes a ride-along program facilitated by the Hawaiʻi Fire Department for individuals in the HCC Fire Science Program to receive hands-on learning and application
of skills; and
WHEREAS, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal or state governments respecting
action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant
to those powers; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, in accordance with section 46-7, Hawai‘i Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of Hawai‘i is authorized to execute, on
behalf of the County, an agreement, and related documents with the University of Hawai‘i, Hawai‘i Community College to support the
Hawai‘i Fire Departments efforts to facilitate the process of awarding college credit to members of the Department who complete the Hawai‘i Community College Fire Science Program.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawai‘i shall transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department, and the Hawai‘i Fire
Department.
