TO PURCHASE A BRONZE PLAQUE FOR <br /> THE JAMES "JIMMY" CORREA BALLFIELD AT DR. FRANCIS F. C. WONG <br /> STADIUM. <br /> WHEREAS, James "Jimmy" Correa, a beloved coach and mentor, devoted most his life <br /> to sharing his passion for baseball with generations of athletes from Hawai`i Island, earning his <br /> well-deserved reputation as the Father of Hilo Baseball; and <br /> WHEREAS, in recognition of Coach Correa's legacy of sportsmanship, inspiration, and <br /> dedication to his community,the Council of the County of Hawai`i passed Bill No. 103, Draft 2, <br /> on January 10, 2024, to officially name the ballfield at Dr. Francis F. C. Wong Stadium in <br /> Ho`olulu Complex as James "Jimmy" Correa Ballfield; and <br /> WHEREAS, Bill No. 103, Draft 2, was duly enacted as Ordinance No. 24-3 with an <br /> effective date of June 15, 2024,the 105th anniversary of Coach Correa's birthday; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Waimea Hawaiian Homesteaders Association Inc. is a 501(c)(3) <br /> nonprofit organization that works to perpetuate the Hawaiian culture through various expressions <br /> of cultural and customary practices; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Waimea Hawaiian Homesteaders Association Inc., is working in <br /> collaboration with the Correa `Ghana to install appropriate signage in consideration of the <br /> official naming of James "Jimmy" Correa Ballfield at Dr. Francis F. C. Wong Stadium; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea Hawaiian Homesteaders Association Inc. is requesting funds to <br /> purchase a bronze plaque for the James "Jimmy" Correa Ballfield at Dr. Francis F. C. Wong <br /> Stadium; and <br />
