ORDER OF RESOLUTIONS
Res. 529-24: AUTHORIZES THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH
THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAI`I, HAWAI`I COMMUNITY COLLEGE,
PURSUANT TO SECTION 46-7, HAWAI`I REVISED STATUTES
Allows for students in Hawai`i Community College's Fire Science Program to
participate in hands-on learning opportunities and experiences facilitated by the
Hawaii Fire Department, and Hawai`i Fire Department personnel to earn college
credits and accreditation when completing training that includes college level
learning.

RESOLUTION NO. 529 24
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO AN
AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII, HAWAII
COMMUNITY COLLEGE
WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department wishes to enter into an agreement with
the University of Hawaii, Hawaii Community College (HCC); and
WHEREAS, this agreement facilitates the process of awarding college credit
towards the Hawaii Community College Fire Science Program to individuals who
receive college level learning during training in the County of Hawaii, Hawaii Fire
Department; and
WHEREAS, this agreement includes a ride-along program facilitated by the
Hawaii Fire Department for individuals in the HCC Fire Science Program to receive
hands-on learning and application of skills; and
WHEREAS, Hawaii Revised Statutes, Section 46-7, requires that County
departments obtain the consent of the council to enter into agreements with the federal
or state governments respecting action to be taken pursuant to any of the powers
granted by law to furnish, expend, and receive any funds or other assistance in
connection with projects being or to be undertaken pursuant to those powers; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I, in
accordance with section 46-7, Hawaii Revised Statutes, that the Mayor of the County of
Hawaii is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County, an agreement, and related
documents with the University of Hawaii, Hawai'i Community College to support the
Hawaii Fire Departments efforts to facilitate the process of awarding college credit to
members of the Department who complete the Hawaii Community College Fire Science
Program.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of the Mayor, the Finance Department,
and the Hawaii Fire Department.
