Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs,to which was referred
Resolution No. 514-24,reports as follows:
Resolution No. 514-24, transmitted by Finance Director Diane Nakagawa via Communication
No. 871, dated April 26, 2024, authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State of
Hawai`i, Department of Education pursuant to Hawai`i Revised Statutes 46-7,to provide meals
for the County of Hawai`i Senior Nutrition Program.
Hawai`i County Elderly Activities Operations Director Roann Okamura was present in the Hilo
Council Chambers to provide more information about the resolution.
Several members spoke in favor of the resolution.
Your Committee on Governmental Operations and External Affairs is in accord with the purpose
and intent of Resolution No. 514-24, and recommends its adoption.
