COUNTY F HAWAII :•:��'' �_•- STATE OF HAWAI`I <br /> • <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 538 24 <br /> RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF ALL <br /> DONATIONS OF SECURITIES OR PERSONAL PROPERTY TO THE <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI`I WITHIN THE 2024-2025 FISCAL YEAR THAT ARE <br /> NOT COVERED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF FINANCE'S <br /> CAPITALIZATION PROCEDURES. <br /> WHEREAS, Article XI II, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides <br /> that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money, <br /> securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and <br /> Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (b), of the Hawaii County Code states that a gift or <br /> donation of money, securities, or personal property not covered by the capitalization <br /> procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the Council by letter for <br /> its approval; and <br /> WHEREAS, donations of commodities not covered by the Department of Finance <br /> capitalization procedures are made by various entities throughout the year to the <br /> County of Hawaii and are accepted by the Hawaii County Council via letter during a <br /> duly noticed meeting of the County Council; and <br /> WHEREAS, although both the executive and legislative branches of the County <br /> of Hawaii place a high priority on expediting the acceptance of these donations, the <br /> process is often lengthy; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the public that a more expeditious manner <br /> of accepting uncapitalized donations be implemented; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> henceforth, all donations within the 2024-2025 fiscal year that are not covered by the <br /> capitalization procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be deemed accepted by <br />
