Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions, to which was referred Resolution
No. 532-24, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 532-24, transmitted by Council Member Holeka Goro Inaba, via Communication
No. 895, dated May 20, 2024, awards the County of Hawai`i "Waiwai"nonprofit grants-in-aid for the
fiscal year 2024-2025.
This resolution allocates $2,027,500 to 58 eligible nonprofit programs, pursuant to Section 2-139,
Hawai`i County Code.
Council Member Sue Lee Loy gave an overview and commented that many applications were
determined ineligible and that a list of those nonprofits have been provided by Chair Holeka Goro Inaba
in Communication No. 895.1.
Chair Inaba explained the process and the work involved for the ad hoc members.
Your Committee on Legislative Approvals and Acquisitions is in accord with the purpose and intent
of Resolution No. 532-24, and recommends its adoption.
