Subject: Testimony- Kalapana Transfer Station Changed to 3 Days of Operation
To All Concerned:
Whereas I live in the area served by the Kalapana Transfer Station, and have done so for over 13 years;therefore
regularly use it on a weekly basis. Since COVID shutdowns and including today, it is has only been open on Saturdays.
As you know, rotting refuse and garbage can become a sanitation and health hazard for an area and potentially for entire
segments of the community.
Please consider and factor into any and all discussions and decisions regarding opening the Kalapana Transfer Station for
more days:three(the norm, I believe), or at a minimum two, my strong request that you do so.
With the current one day-a-week operation on Saturday,what if residents have to work on Saturdays ? It is,after all, not
a universal day-off. Or the more mundane, human occurrence of forgetting? Now that we are well past the COVID
pandemic circumstances, I believe as a resident that the transfer station should be returned to its prior schedule and
availability,or the like. In fact, this is long past-due.
Unless this is enacted, I ask you "Where is the level playing field" ? As a citizen, resident and taxpayer, I strongly ask and
urge that you take all necessary steps to make this happen.
