I'm writing to share my frustration with the current schedule of the Kalapana transfer station. With 1,462 residents, we only have our transfer station open one day a week—on Saturday. This single day isn't enough and is quite inconvenient for many of us. Other nearby areas, like Honomu (413 residents), Puako (294 residents), and Waiahino (210 residents), have their transfer stations open three days a week. It's really unfair that Kalapana, with a much larger population, gets less service. Because of this limited access, some people are dumping their trash by the gate when the station is closed. This creates an unsightly and unhealthy mess in our neighborhood. It's not fair to our community to deal with this. Please consider opening the Kalapana transfer station on more days. This would help us manage our waste better and keep our neighborhood cleaner. Thanks for your prompt attention to this issue. —tom • Jeffrey Morrison 12-148 Kipuka St _ _ -4.. Pahoa, HI 96778 COMM. ltiSu. b Ref. To: 1)1 Nm4 1 Ref. Date
