Dear Council Members, r,
I hope this email finds you well.I am writing to express my concern and dissatisfaction regarding the current operating
schedule of the transfer station in our area,Kalapana.As a resident,I am compelled to address an issue that significantly
impacts our community's waste management and overall quality of life.
Kalapana,with a population of 1,462 residents,is currently served by a transfer station that is open only one day a week.
This limited availability is in stark contrast to nearby areas with significantly smaller populations. For instance,Honomu,
with 413 residents,Puako with 294 residents,and Waiahino with 210 residents,all benefit from transfer stations that are
open three days a week.
The disparity in service is both frustrating and unjust.Our larger population necessitates more frequent access to waste
disposal facilities to maintain a clean and healthy environment.The current schedule imposes undue hardship on our
residents,many of whom find it challenging to manage their waste within the constraints of a single day.This not only
affects individual households but also has broader implications for public health and environmental sustainability in our
area.
I respectfully urge the council to consider increasing the number of open days at the Kalapana transfer station.Aligning
our service level with that of the smaller neighboring areas would not only address the immediate needs of our
community but also demonstrate a commitment to equitable service distribution.

enhance the waste management services in Kalapana.
