Subject: Bill 140 Kalapana Transfer station
Aloha,
I am in support of Bill 140 to increase service days to the Kalapana transfer station.
We need to support the people in the community to provide clean garbage disposal for their rubbish.The
hours of operation that is currently in effect is not enough .The one day for a few hours is just not feasible
for a lot of people. I have had to go and retrieve my mom's rubbish from her place as she was disabled
and not driving, her caretakers were not responsible for throwing away her rubbish .one day a week with
very minimal hours made it almost impossible for me to remove her rubbish for her, and it would pile up
at her residence.A lot of people are dumping their rubbish on the side of the road anywhere because
there's no transfer station open in that area for them to dump it.The rubbish that's left outside of the
transfer station has to be cleaned up when they do open .How much is it costing to clean up the rubbish
that dumped in other places that it shouldn't be dumped ?, how much is rubbish is destroying the land ?
it just makes no sense to restrict people in a rural area access to dump their rubbish within a reasonable
distance of their home . I am definitely in support of Bill 140.
