My name is Alicia Morrier and I am a resident currently living in Kaloko and have been here for 15 years. I've lived in Kona for most of my life and Kaloko has always been a special part of our beautiful island. Its unique landscape with so many endangered flora and fauna has made it a place unique amongst all of our islands. In the time I've lived up here I've seen many changes. Our Hoary Bat population massively declining, many of our native birds declining. I've seen whole properties bulldozed destroying all healthy Hapu'u, Maile, and many other native plants. I am in opposition to changing the zoning up in Kaloko to allow subdividing these properties. This forest cannot afford not recover from the massive amount of destruction that will come from the future property developments, the amount of traffic that will increase causing further damage to native species, not to mention adding more people to the already increased risk we all take when pulling out of Kaloko.
