HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0896.061 2022-2024 p/LAAc ( CoMM,S% For the record, my name is Robert D. Harris and I live at 76-4323 Kekuanaoa Place in Kona Vistas. I am opposing the extension of the permit for Royal Vistas to develop this land. I want to address the traffic issues generated with the Royal Vistas development. : ' Royal Vistas Development has 2 exits from its development, one at Queen K and one at Kekuanaoa Place in Kona Vistas subdivision. Queen K exit allows a right-hand turn only and there is no Street Light for traffic. When vehicles are returning from the north, Kailua Kona, they cannot make a left-hand turn into. `, ' Royal Vistas. They must continue to Lako St. in Kona Vistas subdivision and enter Royal Vistas by Kekuanaoa Place,a residential street. =~-- CD - If vehicles want to go South on Queen K,they must exit Royal Vistas by Kekuanaoa Place as there is no left-turn,South, at the Queen K exit from Royal Vistas. With 450 units being built in Royal Vistas, more than double the number of units in Kona Vistas, this will put an additional 1000 vehicles or more into Kona Vistas subdivision daily and these same vehicles will be driven through Kekuanaoa Place a residential street in Kona Vistas Lako St. intersection at Queen K is jammed with vehicles now as there is a very short right turn lane and no right turn merge lane onto Queen K. Both Pualani Estates and Royal Vistas Queen K exits have right turn merging lanes onto Queen K.Adding 1000 vehicles or more a day will make the intersection even worse at Lako St. and Queen K. Compounding the issue is 2 commercial businesses at the corners, Shell gas station with a convenience store and a Ford dealership. Why would a new subdivision be allowed to exit its vehicles into another subdivision and onto a residential street? To me this is very poor planning. Royal Vistas needs an exit onto a main road on both ends of their development, not an exit adding 1000 vehicles or more to a residential street in Kona Vistas'development and onto a residential street. Again, I am opposing the extension of the permit for Royal Vistas to develop this land. To end I would like to ask each of you as commission members to answer one question, would you want an additional 1000 vehicles or more a day on your residential street where you live? Thank you for your time. Robert Harris Como,. No. 41 __ Ref. To: 1 8 2026 Ref. Date ,43
