Aloha!
My name is Rebekah Cryderman and I am a resident in the Kalapana area of Hawai'i island. I am writing
to offer my support the Hawai'i Council Bill 140-24.
There are 1400+ residents in our area according to the 2022 consensus and our transfer station the past
few years has only been open 1 day per week. The Puna makai area struggles with limited infrastructure
and services on a regular basis, one of these being limited waste services with a transfer station only
open one day per week.
Adding an additional open day or more to this important service in Kalapana would be of great benefit to
our community and hopefully diminish the abandonment of rubbish outside the transfer station on non-
open days. Please consider adding an additional open day to the Kalapana transfer station through this
bill. Mahalo for your time and thoughtful consideration.
