Subject: Pahoa Transfer Station _ =c—D
Aloha,
I am a kupuna in Lower Puna and used to have the ease of the
Pahoa Transfer Station being open three days per week to take
our trash. Then it went to twice, then once a week. Being only
open on Saturdays, it is highly inconvenient and even a health
hazard for me to store up a week's worth of trash and then
plan to not be away from home on Saturdays, just to take my
trash to the transfer station.
We have more building and more residents around the Red Road
than years past, and despite our population growing, we are the
only transfer station open only one day per week. There are
several neighborhoods serviced by the Kalapana transfer
station, and the bin fills quickly on Saturday. Many people dump
their trash near the road out of frustration and lack of
service.
Please, please, please open the transfer station two or three
days per week to meet the ever growing needs of our
communities.
