In the recent past, all Transfer Stations were open seven days a week when the population of the island was significantly less than it is in 2024. Yet, instead of retaining those hours as policy, the County has reduced the hours that transfer stations are open to the public. This is an essential service and with the island's population growing by leaps and bounds, especially here in Puna, reducing the number of open days at Transfer Stations creates more problems than is solves. It results in more garbage piled up at Transfer Station gates and increasing the illegal dumping across the island. Please make it policy that ALL Transfer Stations be mandated to be open at least three days a week. Mahalo, /4*PA9 a°)Lt& Eileen O'Hara, Ph.D. Executive Director Comaaa. l , 0• I Ref. To: t Ref.
