Aloha,Chair Kierkiewicz,Vice Chair Inaba and Members of the Council.
I am submitting testimony in support of Bill 152. I commend Heather Kimball and Sue Lee Loy for
putting forth this bill.
Amending sections of Chapter 5 of the Hawaii County Code to include"Multi-family dwellings"for
pre-approval will streamline permitting and expedite the building of much needed housing units.
This has demonstrated benefit with single family dwellings and will do the same for multi-family
dwellings. We need more multi-family dwellings here to better utilize the space we have. The next
step in this process will be to allow more Multi-Family Zoning which I hope will be coming with the
finalization of the General Plan and new zoning changes that are being considered by the County.
Thank you for your efforts to assist in the process of building much needed multi-family housing
units.
