Re: Resolution for multi-year agreement
The Hawaii Fire Department wishes to enter into a multi-year agreement for 3-years
with Hawaiian Telcom, Inc. for communication services at a new emergency
communications center located at 540 Kupuna Place, Hilo, HI 96720 and a backup
location at the Hawaii Police Department located at 349 Kapi`olani Street, Hilo, HI
96720. The communication services for this new emergency communications center will
ensure continuous uninterrupted communication services for the Hawai`i Fire and Police
departments' emergency operations.

A. REQUEST:
Enter into a three year service agreement for emergency communication lines with Hawaiian Telcom, Inc for
a new Emergency Communications Center located at 540 Kupuna Place, Hilo, HI 96720, and a
backup location at the Hawaii Police Department, 349 Kapiolani St., Hilo, HI 96720
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
To enhance emergency communications in County of Hawaii, we are establishing a new facility at 540
Kupuna Place in Hilo. This facility will support both Hawaii Police Department and Hawai'i Fire Deparment,
improving coordination and response during emergencies.
Estimated cost: $200,000.00 per year
Justification for a 3-Year Agreement with Hawaiian Telcom, Inc.:
Ensures continuous, uninterrupted communication services, crucial for emergency operations.
Provides access to the latest telecommunication technology, essential for effective emergency management.
Offers financial stability with fixed rates and potential discounts.
Fosters a strong relationship with tailored solutions and proactive support.
