COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAI I RESOLUTION NO. SGo 24 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA HEALTH CENTER, INC., FOR THE PA`AUILO `OHANA FUN DAY. WHEREAS, Hamakua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves Hawaii Island by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care, and educational services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and WHEREAS, HHC is partnering with the Pa`auuilo community to organize the Pa`auilo `Ohana Fun Day, which is a celebration of the history of Pa`auilo and its kupuna that revives and reinforces the values of community, tradition, and pride; and WHEREAS, this event, being held on August 25, 2024, will showcase and promote the rich and diverse cultural resources of the former plantations of Hawai` i Island, while making positive contributions to the quality of life for its residents and visitors; and WHEREAS, events and activities during the `Ohara Fun Day include historical photo displays, free food, a kupuna resources booth offering health and service information for seniors, a jumping.castle, a school supply drive for keiki, and live musical performances; and WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to help with food, juice, water, rental of the keiki jumping castle, keiki school supplies, and musician fees; and WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this outreach event as it provides diversified programs to address the needs and interests of the communities, in a safe environment; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that Contingency Relief fiends from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hamakua Health Center, Inc., to help fund the Pa`auilo `Ghana Fun Day.
