COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAI I <br />RESOLUTION NO. SGo 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO HAMAKUA HEALTH <br />CENTER, INC., FOR THE PA`AUILO `OHANA FUN DAY. <br />WHEREAS, Hamakua Health Center, Inc. (HHC), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization <br />that serves Hawaii Island by providing accessible, affordable, quality health care, and <br />educational services with an emphasis on individual and community wellness; and <br />WHEREAS, HHC is partnering with the Pa`auuilo community to organize the Pa`auilo <br />`Ohana Fun Day, which is a celebration of the history of Pa`auilo and its kupuna that revives and <br />reinforces the values of community, tradition, and pride; and <br />WHEREAS, this event, being held on August 25, 2024, will showcase and promote the <br />rich and diverse cultural resources of the former plantations of Hawai` i Island, while making <br />positive contributions to the quality of life for its residents and visitors; and <br />WHEREAS, events and activities during the `Ohara Fun Day include historical photo <br />displays, free food, a kupuna resources booth offering health and service information for seniors, <br />a jumping.castle, a school supply drive for keiki, and live musical performances; and <br />WHEREAS, HHC is requesting funds to help with food, juice, water, rental of the keiki <br />jumping castle, keiki school supplies, and musician fees; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Parks and Recreation supports this outreach event as it <br />provides diversified programs to address the needs and interests of the communities, in a safe <br />environment; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief fiends from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to Hamakua Health Center, Inc., to help fund the <br />Pa`auilo `Ghana Fun Day. <br />
