Aloha council members,
These bills will destroy my business. I am an 82 year old senior on social security, with a very tiny
pension, and a modest savings account. I am the owner of Lopaka's Family Lodge; a 5 Star rated, one
bedroom Vacation Rental in Hilo. Without the income from my vacation rental I would have to sell my
home and move to the mainland. My housekeeper, landscaper, plumber, handyman, and electrician,
would all lose the income generated by maintaining my property. I buy appliances, bedding, towels,
rugs, furniture, cleaning supplies, lighting for the Vacation Rental. Then there are the complimentary
items such as coffee, creamer, paper towels, napkins, TP, shampoo, conditioner, laundry detergent,
bleach, dryer sheets, dish detergent, dish washer detergent; etc. All purchased locally. All of this would
be a loss to local stores if I am put out of business. My neighbors would lose a good and thoughtful
neighbor. There have never been any complaints or problems from my guests who respect my rules.
I really can't understand whatyour thinking is in even considering such a move. How is this even
constitutional? Don't I have a right to use my property as I please?
Finally, the taxes I pay are substantial! Can the County really do without them. Seriously? 2! 7

Please reconsider, and drop these bills.<;
