Local farming and landowning communities are already facing numerous challenges, and these bills
could exacerbate their struggles, leading to unintended negative economic consequences.
urge the Council to consider the following points:
Local Impact: The proposed legislation could disrupt the delicate balance of our local economy, which relies
heavily on agriculture and small-scale hospitality services.
Affordable Housing: While the intent to increase affordable housing is commendable, the approach taken in
these bills may have the opposite effect, driving up costs for residents.
Community Character: Preserving the unique character and lifestyle of our island is crucial. These bills could
alter the landscape in ways that are detrimental to our cultural heritage.
I respectfully request that the Council re-evaluate the potential outcomes of Bills 121, 122, and 123. It is
imperative that we find solutions that support our local farmers and landowners rather than impose
additional hardships on them. (�
