Bill 121
Aloha Members of the County Council:
My name is Linda Abeldt, and I own a charming home in Kailua Kona. When I purchased my
three -bedroom, it was with the intention of providing a beautiful retreat for guests to enjoy the
wonders of Hawaii. Over the years, my home has become a cherished destination for many families
and groups who appreciate its spacious design and welcoming atmosphere.
The recent amendments to Bill 121 propose a strict maximum renter limit, which poses a
significant concern for nay property. This limit does not take into account the actual capacity of my
home to safely and comfortably accommodate more guests. The original bill allowed for planning
director discretion, a necessary provision that recognized the unique characteristics of different
properties.
I respectfully ask the council to reinstate the provision for planning director discretion as it will
need to apply to my property.
Mahalo,
Linda Abeldt
