HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0675.287 2022-2024p / PCptLuT) bill 121 6OHM.6-6 July 3, 2024 Aloha Clair Ashley Kierlae`vicz and Members of the County Council: My -name is Mike Burton, aad.I own a dome at 78-6803 Kuhinanui St, Kailhia Kona, I am writing to express my Concerns regarding the -recent amendments to Bill 121, particularly the changes in COM 0675.160, which impose a strict maximum reciter limit. My -home is a newly constructed luxury residence with expansive ocean views, designed with larger, spaces to accommodate more guests. The original provision in the bill allowed forthe planning director's. discretion in determining maximum occupancy, which was a sensible approach given the diverse nature of properties on the island. The recent amendment's rigid limit does not take into account the unique features and capacity.of homes. like mine. This restriction would negatively impact my ability to rent to larger groups, which the home is designed and equipped to accolmnodate safely. It is crucial that the.couneil considers the diverse nature of properties and reinstates the provision for director authorization. This flexibility is necessary to ensure that homeowneirs cau continue to .operate their properties without undue hardship.
