These bills will hurt farmers and other local people who need the extra income of renting their
property. Tourism is obviously a huge way to make money in Hawai'i and one of the major ways to
turn a profit, but making a business that appeals to tourists. So, this bill is obviously a very stupid
thing for people that live here, that want to survive here, let alone thrive here. If you support and
represent the people of Hawaii, you will oppose all regulations on short-term vacation rentals. If you
want to support only a small number of wealthy constituents and mark yourself as an enemy of the
people of the state of Hawaii, then you will support these. Are you down to further the effort to cause
local Hawaiians to be "priced out of paradise"? Are you down to only replace the residents of Hawai'i
with people that are here to retire and made their money elsewhere? Or do you stand with the
people of the state of Hawai'i and want them to prosper, and will protect their livelihoods, as you
agreed to do so when you were elected? Or should I be putting "elected" in quotes? There is a very
clear line in the sand here, that if you cross, will show your true colors. Don't be selfish and greedy,
take a stand to oppose these bills and support the wealth coming in through tourism being
distributed fairly to all those who are hard-working enough to capitalize upon it. Oppose the
concentration of wealth in the hands of the few, through unnecessary and undesirable regulations on
something as simple as renting out a spare room in someone's house. If you don't, trust that it will
come around to bite you in the ass someday, and you will regret it.
