These bids will hurt farmers and other local people who need the extra income of renting their property. It
will also make it unaffordable for middle class tourist to visit Hawaii.
As a 61 year old who has gotten laid off twice in one year I depend on Airbnb guests to pay the mortgage.
I'm unable to get another job that pays enough for my living expenses. My home will never be low income
housing. If I am forced to sell, only rich retirees will be able buy it. Right now I can live here by renting out
a couple of rooms to middle class tourists who support the local economy like farmers markets and
small restaurants. Rich tourists staying at resorts don't typically do that.
These bills are designed to help the rich while hurting the average person whether local or tourist.
