OPPOSE BILLS 121,122,123
Council Members,
I strongly oppose Bills 121,122,123. Bills 121 & 122 will put unnecessary burden on the locals with more regulation &
cost( permit fees & fines) & squeeze them out of business & impoverish them. It is only going to enrich the big hotels.
These bills will not provide affordable housing as you claim. Just look at what's happening to Maui. When B & B's & STVR
converted to rentals it became so expensive to rent only the wealthy can afford them.
It is as if these bills are introduced to shut out locals & regular tourists to turn this island into a playground only for the
wealthy. I strongly oppose these bills.
Bill 123 name change from Ohana to Accessory Dwelling Unit will change the definition by law to make the owner
"accessory" to any crime committed by another occupant of Accessory Dwelling Unit. An individual who commits the
crime should be the only one responsible, not the innocent owner because he happens to own it. I strongly oppose Bill
123.
