Subject: Opening more days at Kalapana transfer station Bale JUL 0 9 2024
PLEASE open the Katapana transfer station more days per week and back to the Gam to 6 pm. Mayor Roth
opened it up another day but cut the hours. People going to work in the morning cannot dump their trash
because most people leave for work before the Sam opening time. And then when they get home from
work it's closed already. So most people down here are still stuck going to Pahoa. The new hours are
NOT helpful. We need the 6am opening to dump rubbish on the way to work and the 6pm closing for after
work dumping. Yes, people work weekends as well and the new hours have cut the time available to
dump rubbish on Saturdays.
So, I'm asking that the schedule goes back to how it was BEFORE the pandemic and BEFORE lava flow in
2018, 5 days a week, 12 hours per day. There are more than enough residents and tourist lodging to
warrant the additional days. And more people are movingand building down here every week. Please and
thank you. We realty need it.
