Kaloko Mauka is a well kept community that has grown in the last decades with an active neighborhood watch program. There are very few lots available especially in the lower elevations for building family work -force housing. Housing is considered the number one issue on our island. I understand that the parcel at the intersection of Kaloko Dr. and Ha'o St is the last large 20+ acre parcel in the lower Kaloko subdivision that has yet to be subdivided. Many of the lots in lower Kaloko are 1-3 acres in size and increase in size in higher elevations which are densely forested, and it is my understanding that this parcel is planned to be divided into lots greater than those nearby and the that the Planning Department has already approved the subdivision plan. A new traffic signal light scheduled to be installed soon at the intersection of Kaloko Dr. and Mamahaloa Hwy will greatly help residents safely exit and enter Kaloko Mauka, which we overwhelmingly appreciate. I SUPPORT this project to subdivide this parcel as planned to increase work -force family housing opportunities which is desperately needed in Kona. Aloha, Richard Bailey Comn, Mo. MS.
