Aloha Council members,
I am writing this on behalf of Owners; Roosevelt/Leese for their request to subdivide their Kaloko Property 3-7-3-24-3,
A little background;
My family currently owns & has lived on a 20 acre parcel in Kaloko at the 5,000 ft level since 1979.
1 am aware of how things were since the beginning, in terms of developments, & how they are now now.
1 was not a fan of all the cutting up of the properties from the beginning, but it was allowed.
More importantly, its been heartbreaking to see that people have been allowed to bring in & plant so may invasive plant
species & basically ruined what was a forest, primarily in the lower half (1st 3 miles) of Kaloko Mauka.
(On a side note-1 would like to see a priority where property owners from the bottom up to the top have to eradicate all
of those invasive species, especially when they are growing all the way out & beginning to encroach along Kaloko Drive)
Nevertheless, in regards to the future development request of 3-7-3-24-3, by the current owners .... I understand they are
allowing for a one acre buildable area & 4 acres to be left in it's native forest state. That seems to be a very good &
reasonable request. They are surrounded by parcels which have already been subdivided without such restrictions so
this seems like one of the best allowable circumstances, in terms of a small development in lower Kaloko.
