Aloha,
My name is Kirsten Haspe. I am a third generation Big Island resident, raised here in Kailua Kona. I
have known Michael Hughes as a friend and Doctor for the past year. As a Naturopathic Doctor of
medicine his only intent has been to help and enrich our community since moving to our beautiful
home of Hawai'i.
I am writing to show my support to pass Bill 166 for tomorrow's County Council Meeting. I can vouch
for Mr. Hughes' character and good intent for the land in which they are attempting to subdivide. I
would not put my support behind anything that is not an eco-conscious endeavor. Nor any attempt to
develop any more of our precious land to create short term rentals and further take away from those
who are no longer able to afford living in their own island home. His intent is only to build a modest
home and remain here as a hard-working member of the local community.
In summary, I fully support the passing of Bill 166 and put all of my confidence in Michael Hughes and
his intent is to care for our land and community.
