Subject: Bill 166
Aloha County Council Members,
We are writing this testimony in support of Bill 166, which is seeking to allow a few deeply embedded
members of our community to build their forever homes. We have know Michael Hughes for many years
now, on both a personal level as well as a professional level, and he is one of the kindest, truest and
most caring humans that we know. He is deeply connected to our island in a spiritual sense, he is deeply
connected to our community on a personal and professional level. We understand the council's
reluctance to approve bills like these because we've all seen what has been happening duringyears
since covid. However, these are the people to approve something like this for. We have reached a point
where our local people cannot afford to own a home, and this is one way to help some individuals who
give back and help our local community.
Please open your hearts and your minds to see that this group of like minded people want nothing more
than to build their homes so that they can remain on island and continue to be a positive part of our
Hawai'i Island community. Thankyou for hearing our testimony.
Mahalo,
Iko Balanga and Holly Crane'
