Koi Pond Bridges funds workforce development organizations on the Island of Hawaii. Our mission is to
support programs that empower our keiki with resources and skills so that they can find meaningful
vocations that also enable them to afford to live on our island. Workforce development will not solve our
mission alone. We need comprehensive economic development combined with affordable
housing. Regarding housing,weneed affordable housing in close proximity to where the jobs are.
The Royal Vista/Kona 3 development intends to provide a significant number of affordable living units in
Kona. The developer has committed to,when completed, at least 20%of the total units built will be
dedicated to affordable housing in a development that represents a broad cross section of members
from our diverse community.
I support this project contingent upon full satisfaction by the council that the developer will in fact
provide a minimum of 20% of units dedicated to affordable housing. If fully realized,this will result in
well over 100 units added to the county's affordable housing inventory.
We need more affordable housing. We need the developer to provide a minimum of 20% of all units to be
affordable. This will help us at Koi Pond Bridges: with proper training and education our keiki will be able
to remain and thrive on our island: good jobs and affordable housing work hand in hand for a vibrant
community
