Aloha,
My name is Dany Tremblay. I own a home in Pualani Estates. I support this development but only on the
condition that Queen Ka'ahumanu and Kuakini highways are widened to two lanes in each direction
between Malulani Dr and approx. 77-6607 Kuakini Hwy, and that the civil infrastructure be upgraded for
the additional demand., if necessary.
I understand that adding 2 lanes over this"pinched" stretch of road might be very difficult to achieve
along some sections. As such, a less expensive and simpler option to consider is a three lane
configuration where the center lane's direction changes depending on the traffic's demand. This is being
used successfully in many cities across the US and internationally.
Kailua-Kona is in dire need of additional housing options and should be encouraged to grow and
prosper. Unfortunately, any real and lasting development of the city appears to be curtailed by its
pinched main thoroughfare. Anyone who uses this road during the morning and afternoon rush hours
understands this.
