Testimony for Resolution No. 543-24:

Support for Resolution No. 543-24
We strongly support Resolution No. 543-24, which accepts the dedication of Kikau Place and
Kuahiwi Place, described as Roadway Lot 369, Pacific Heights Subdivision, Increment IV,
identified as Tax Map Key: 2-4-006:091, situated at Kukuau 1st, District of South Hilo, Island
and County of Hawaii, State of Hawaii, from HSC, Inc., a Hawaii corporation.
We are residents of the Pacific Heights Subdivision, Increment IV (the "Subdivision")and
support this resolution for the following reasons:
- The two roads in the Subdivision, Kikau Place and Kuahiwi Place, were intended to be
dedicated to the County of Hawaii ("County")when the Subdivision was developed.
- The Subdivision was extremely dark without working street lights. The County recently
turned on the street lights, and we are grateful for this. Better illumination at nighttime is
beneficial for the overall safety of the neighborhood.
- Dedication of Kikau Place and Kuahiwi Place to the County would remove uncertainty
amongst the Subdivision residents regarding the maintenance/repair of these two roads.
Thank you to Councilmember Kagiwada and the members of the Legislative Approvals and
Acquisitions Committee for helping move this dedication forward.
