Subject: Easements along Waikaloa Stream
I am writing to urge your careful consideration of Resolution 546-24, which is designed to release PONC funds for the
purchase of easements that would extend the existing nature trail from Church Row to the Kohala coast, creating a 14-
mile trail. As a resident of the Big Island who values my outdoor lifestyle and makes frequent use of the hiking trails, this
extension would be incredibly valuable as a recreational opportunity and, perhaps even more critical, as an opportunity to
ensure on-going access to this community resource. Without the passing of this resolution, me, along with many others,
are deeply concerned that development projects will cut off public access with no recourse.
As a valuable investment in the future of the people living on this beautiful island, I urge you to approve using PONC
funds to purchase easements for the nature trail.
