Subject: Testimony for July 9 hearing for PONC funding for Waimea Trails and Greenways
Dear Council members,
I am writing in support of Waimea Trails and Greenways use of PONC funding to acquire lands for trail
purposes between Waimea and the South Kohala coast that generally follows the Waikoloa Stream. It is a vital
alternative transportation link between Waimea and the coast and will help get people away for cars and
traffic to enjoy bicycle transportation and walking.This will reduce pollution, carbon footprint as well as add to
the health of the participants.This will also help to preserve our riparian areas and increase enjoyment of
these areas to more residents. I strongly encourage you to approve of the PONC funds for this worthwhile
purpose.
