Subject: Testimony for Resolution 546-24 for trail funding
Dear Council members,
We live in Waimea and we support Resolution 546-24 and the purchase of easements along Waikoloa
Stream from Waimea to the coastline. The existing trail is wonderful but very short, and creating this 14-
mile trail is an amazing opportunity! We desperately need more safe outdoor recreation areas around
here, not to mention walkable routes to schools, which this would improve.When we visit other cities
and towns around the country,we greatly appreciate the walking/hiking/biking paths that we often find,
and we would love to see similar investments here, especially given our beautiful surroundings.This trail
will see a lot of use! Please approve PONC funds for this worthwhile purpose.This is a tremendous
investment in the health and well-being of our community and its residents.
