SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Bill No. 176, Draft 2; an Ordinance Amending Chapter 2,
Article 25 of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016 Edition, as Amended), Relating
to Appropriation of Funds to Nonprofit Organizations.
Transmitted herewith is a proposed amendment to Bill No. 176, Draft 2. The proposed
amendment is illustrated below in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Bill No. 176,
Draft 2; material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken, and new material is underscored. A
copy of the draft of this bill that would result if this proposed amendment were adopted is
intentionally omitted due to the limited scope of this proposed amendment.
SECTION 4 of Bill No, 176, Draft 2, which amends section 2-139, is amended by amending
subparagraph (A) of subsection (a), paragraph (1), to read as follows:
"(A) Annually, before November 30, the finance director shall, for the purpose of
soliciting applications, establish a sum of [at least] no more than $2,500,000
for the ensuing fiscal year for Waiwai grant-in-aid awards. The finance
director shall also publish a notice soliciting applications in two newspapers
of general circulation within the County by November 30."
