• <br /> ..O;NtY.OF.. ... <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAI I _ , STATE OF HAWAI I <br /> E cF•H��. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 568 24 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO GRASSROOTS <br /> COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT GROUP FOR EXPENSES RELATING TO THE 2024 <br /> HAWAI`I ISLAND ALL NATIONS POWWOW. <br /> WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit <br /> organization that supports individuals and groups that provide programs, activities, events, <br /> projects, and educational workshops that benefit the public and are free of charge; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group will assist in coordinating <br /> the 2024 Hawai`i Island All Nations Powwow to be held on September 14-15, 2024, at the Puna <br /> Hongwanji with approximately 130 participants from Canada and the continental United States; <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, a powwow is meant to honor our host culture through a variety of activities <br /> and to promote educational events that foster an understanding and connection through the <br /> sharing of Native American culutre in a family-oriented and community environment; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Grassroots Community Development Group is requesting funds for <br /> food/lodging, portable toilets, and other costs to host the participants from Canada and the <br /> continental United States; and <br /> WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug- <br /> free and alcohol-free events for the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 5 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Liquor Control to provide a grant to Grassroots Community Development Group for expenses <br /> relating to the 2024 Hawai`i Island All Nations Powwow. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
