COUNTY OF HAWAII <br />STATE OF HAWAII <br />RESOLUTION NO. 5701 2 24 <br />A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br />AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br />DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ALANUI `O KA`U FOR <br />ITS INAUGURAL KA`U WELLNESS FESTIVAL, <br />WHEREAS, Alanui `0 Ka`u is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves Hawaii <br />Island by fostering an appreciation of the history of Ka`5, improving the economic vitality <br />through community -based projects, planning and education, and serving the needs of the <br />community through enrichment programs and projects that promote well-being, health, safety, <br />art, and culture; and <br />WHEREAS, Alanui `0 Ka`u is hosting its inaugural Ka`U Wellness Festival on <br />September 21, 2024, at the Ocean View Community Center to provide an opportunity for <br />attendees to learn about various health and wellness resources and to connect with industry <br />professionals such as doctors, therapists, nutritionists, yoga instructors, and energy practitioners; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Alanui `0 Ka`u is requesting funds to help cover the costs for speaker fees, <br />food for volunteers, advertising, and printing of banners, signs, flyers, and programs for the <br />event; and <br />WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that focus on <br />health and wellness through alcohol -free and drug -free events; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, <br />Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br />resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, <br />service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I that <br />Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br />Liquor Control to provide a grant to Alanui `0 Ka`u for its inaugural Ka`u Wellness Festival. <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby <br />transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
