A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ALANUI ʻO KAʻŪ FOR
ITS INAUGURAL KAʻŪ WELLNESS FESTIVAL.
WHEREAS, Alanui ʻO Kaʻū is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that serves Hawai‘i Island by fostering an appreciation of the history of Kaʻū, improving the economic vitality through
community-based projects, planning and education, and serving the needs of the community through enrichment programs and projects that promote well-being, health, safety, art, and culture;
and
WHEREAS, Alanui ʻO Kaʻū is hosting its inaugural Ka‘ū Wellness Festival on September 21, 2024, at the Ocean View Community Center to provide an opportunity for attendees to learn about
various health and wellness resources and to connect with industry professionals such as doctors, therapists, nutritionists, yoga instructors, and energy practitioners; and
WHEREAS, Alanui ʻO Kaʻū is requesting funds to help cover the costs for speaker fees, food for volunteers, advertising, and printing of banners, signs, flyers, and programs for the event;
and
WHEREAS, the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that focus on health and wellness through alcohol-free and drug-free events; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai‘i County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying
the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of Liquor Control to provide a grant
to Alanui ʻO Kaʻū for its inaugural Kaʻū Wellness Festival.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai‘i hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
