A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF FUNDS TO BE USED TOWARDS TRAINING AND TRAVEL EXPENSES FOR THE “PROTECTING CHILDREN ONLINE” TRAINING TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAIʻI
OFFICE OF THE PROSECUTING ATTORNEY.
WHEREAS, the Statewide Children’s Justice Act Grant Task Force (CJA) is donating funds to the County of Hawai‘i Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for training and travel expenses, valued
at approximately $17,370 for Deputy Prosecuting Attorneys and Investigators to attend the “Protecting Children Online” training in Maui, Hawai‘i; and
WHEREAS, this training will cover topics and modules such as Technology Overview, Innovative Approaches in Child Exploitation Investigations, Preparing and Presenting the Case in Chief,
Search and Seizure of Electronic Evidence, Presenting the Expert Witness, and Trial Demonstrations; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney recommends approval of this donation by CJA; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaiʻi County Charter, provides that the council, on behalf of the county, may accept gifts of donations of money, securities, or other personal
property or of real estate or any interest in real estate; now therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I, , in accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12 of the Hawaiʻi County Charter, the County of Hawaiʻi, accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney, the Department of Finance and the Office of Management.
