Dear County Council,
COUNTY CLERK
COUNTY OF HAWAI'I
RECE11MDW
Time '` CA, 8y CJV
Date JUL 2 3 2024
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to express my strong support for the proposed building project of four new
homes Kaloko by Dr Matt Hugh's. This initiative aims to provide modest, affordable housing for hardworking local
professionals.
As a resident of Kailua Kona, I have witnessed firsthand the increasing difficulty that many local professionals face in
finding suitable and affordable housing. This project represents a significant step towards addressing this critical issue. By
ensuring that these homes are allocated to local professionals, we are investing in the stability and growth of our
community.
These new homes will not only provide much -needed housing but will also help maintain the fabric of our local
community by supporting those who contribute to its daily life and economy. Essential professionals who sustain our
community deserve the opportunity to live close to where they work.
Additionally, by focusing on creating housing for local residents rather than vacation rentals, we can mitigate some of the
pressures that tourism places on our housing market. This approach helps preserve the character and sense of
community that makes Kailua-Kona such a wonderful place to live.
I strongly urge the council to approve this project, as it aligns with the long-term interests of our community and
supports those who are integral to its success and well-being. Thank you for considering my perspective, and I hope you
will support this important initiative.
Sincerely,
Whitney
