Aloha -
I am writing in support of Bill 556. As a 11-year resident of Puna, an AirBnB host, and community activist,
l believe this is an outstanding piece of legislation that will result in well needed information about the
impact of short term vacation rental in our area. Decisions about how best to regulate this industry
needs to be based on objective data and inquiry. I believe the parameters of this bill will have that result.
I appreciate the work the Council has done to prepare this groundwork, so the most judicious decision
can be made on how to move forward regarding short-term vacation rentals, once the research has
concluded.
