RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO ENTER INTO MULTI-
YEAR AGREEMENTS WITH HAWAIIAN TELCOM, INC., REGARDING
COMMUNICATION SERVICES FOR A NEW EMERGENCY
COMMUNICATIONS CENTER IN HILO
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai'i desires to enter into multi -year agreements for
three (3) years with Hawaiian Telcom, Inc. for communication services at a new
emergency communications center located at 540 Kupuna Place, Hilo, HI 96720 and a
backup location at the Hawai'i Police Department located at 349 Kapi'olani Street, Hilo;
and
WHEREAS, the communication services for this new emergency communications
center will ensure continuous uninterrupted communication services for the Hawaii Fire
and Police departments' emergency operations; and
WHEREAS, Section 10-11 of the County Charter requires that any contract,
lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later
fiscal year or of more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I:
1. In accordance with Section 10-11 of the County Charter, the Mayor of the
County of Hawai'i is authorized to execute, on behalf of the County,
agreements, and related documents with Hawaiian Telecom Inc. for the
purposes as described above.
2. That sufficient funds be budgeted in future fiscal years to cover the
anticipated obligations of the County under the terms of these agreements
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk of the County of Hawaii shall
transmit copies of this resolution to the Office of Management, the Finance Department,
Hawaii Police Department and the Hawai`i Fire Department.
